The Nashville-based Englishman, Richard Smith, has dazzled us with his beautiful playing several times in years past, and we can expect another unforgettable evening at Barking Legs. Possessed of jaw-dropping technique coupled with wide-ranging musical interests and influences, he leaves audiences shaking their heads in wonder. He is quite truly on an exalted tier that includes guitarists Tommy Emmanuel, Billy Strings, David Grier and Bryan Sutton, not to mention the eternal Chet Atkins. He is among the small group of guitarists who may well be best heard in a solo setting.
Check out Richard solo on “The Ragtime Dance“, then Richard and Tommy Emmanuel have a blast on “Jerry’s Breakdown”.
“The most amazing guy I know on the guitar,” said Chet Atkins. “He can play anything I know, only better.”
