THIS EVENT IS A PART OF BARKING LEGS THEATER’S 30TH BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION!
On this exciting evening audiences will get a two-for-one deal! These two new works are the result of the Barking Legs Artist Incubator project. New Works include "As You Did to the Leased of These" and “Amen Cul du Sac.”
As You Did to the Leased of These
As You Did to the Leased of These is an explorative piece by Moll King. It observes and challenges the concept of American pride and poverty in the Bible belt, specifically centering on the housing crisis in local Chattanooga. This work hopes to address the continuing rise in housing costs as it relates to the rising number of homeless and unhoused people. This piece challenges the relationship between religion and moral goodness and speculates that they are not related at all, and perhaps not even friends.

Amen Cul de Sac
Amen Cul de Sac is a parody of an evangelical church service, with Donnie Marsh as the deeply earnest pastor who doesn’t realize he’s actually leading a cult, and Ashley Saturday as the hilariously judgmental lady who does the announcements. This show rewards people for remembering their Bible stories, memory verses, and obscure doctrinal disputes while providing laughs and catharsis to people of various church experiences. Whether you have felt alienated by the church and left or still attend faithfully, if church was ever a very important part of your life, you’ll know exactly what we’re talking about.
Ashley Saturday
Ashley Saturday is a standup comedian, writer, and reformed baby. She’s done all seven deadly sins (in her heart, a la Jimmy Carter). Growing up, the only thing that mattered to her was how many Godpoints she was storing away in the troughs of heaven. It seems dubious now that she will ever get those points back. Bringing Amen Cul de Sac to life has been a dream come true and she's so grateful for the opportunity to pump up the praise with Donnie Marsh!
Donnie Marsh
Donnie Marsh is a stand up comedian, writer, and former youth pastor who spent early childhood attending the kind of churches that many churches consider illegitimate. After feeling the call to ministry and attending the Virginia College version of seminary, at 25 he was asked to pastor of a small congregation with its own building. In a moment of self awareness, he turned it down, but playing Brother Donnie is a chance to laugh about what might have happened if he had been given that much authority with so little life experience. He is delighted to have finally found a comedic partner who knows as many Christian rap songs about abstinence as he does.
