The Keith Brown Quintet‘s performance tonight caught the attention of the Times Free Press, and the recognition is well deserved. Keith’s keyboard work is going to knock folks out. Showtime is 7:30, and tickets are $12 advance, $15 at the door.
From the Times Free Press:
Jazz pianist Keith Brown played Barking Legs Theater last year as a member of Vance Thompson’s 5 Plus 6, and venue officials recall “he blew folks away with his extraordinary command of the keyboard.”
He repeated the feat last week with Alex Norris and Greg Tardy playing the music of Woody Shaw.
Tardy calls Brown “a phenomenal player” with “a great grasp on the language of the jazz piano masters and an ability to come from many directions, from hard swing to funk to free.”
Tonight, Dec. 10, Brown returns to Barking Legs, 1307 Dodds Ave., as leader of a quintet that features Jamel Mitchell on sax, Nathan Warner on trumpet, Clint Mullican on bass and Nolan Nevels on drums.
Tickets are $12 if purchased early in the day, $15 at the door.
