Pierre Bensusan Official CD Release Celebration

We are truly celebrating the opportunity to be presenting world music icon and guitar master Pierre Bensusan on the official release date of his new album, AZWAN. What an honor for Chattanooga and Barking Legs Theater! Pierre will even be hosting an afterparty with refreshments following the show, and he’s looking forward to meeting the Chattanooga audience.

It is fair to introduce Pierre Bensusan to the uninitiated by saying he’s surely one of the world’s premier fingerstyle guitar players, and his performances of solo acoustic guitar and voice are absolutely sumptuous occasions.

Back in 1974, Pierre Bensusan was cutting his teeth as a performer on the folk scene in Paris and other cities in France when one of his idols, banjo great Bill Keith, offered him his first official paying gig ever touring Western Europe with his bluegrass band. The French-Algerian upstart, humbly launching a four decade career was hired to play mandolin. But when Keith heard his groundbreaking approach to the acoustic guitar, he decided to allow Bensusan a few key spotlights on that instrument.

Forty five years later…

“If ‘World Music’ is music that pays tribute to the spirit of a collection of human beings through distinct rhythms, traditional instruments and harmonic colors, French-Algerian guitarist, singer and composer Pierre Bensusan can be recognized as one of the most eloquent and world musicians today.”

Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!
