"Big Ears Bookends": Shipp Thursday, Orcutt Monday
Many of us will spend Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the incredible Big Ears Festival in Knoxville. We've bookended the festival with two exceptional shows at Barking Legs which are very much in keeping with the Big Ears spirit of musical adventure. Matthew Shipp is one of the most acclaimed and provocative pianists of his generation. He'll perform on Thursday with bassist Michael Bisio. Bill Orcutt is taking the guitar in very unique territories, and he was one of the highlights of last year's Big Ears. He'll be performing solo work on Monday, March 30, then he'll be joined by percussionist Bob Stagner. If you're traveling to or from Big Ears by way of Chattanooga, consider joining us for these shows. If you can't make it to Knoxville, consider these very nice ways to get a bit of the flavor of the festival. Co-produced with the Shaking Ray Levi Society.
