Prophets, Warriors, Healers, & Heroes: Untamed Women of The Bible

Prophets, Warriors, Healers & Heroes: Untamed Women of the Bible, is a concert, storytelling event, combining original music & stories from former rock singer turned pastor/author Rev. Sherry Cothran, and classical composers from the past 400 years around lesser known women from the Bible. The event features Cothran’s original Americana style songs and her unique brand of storytelling, as well as music about these women by classical composers Handel and Mendelssohn, performed by local classical singers Kristen Wiram, Sara Snider Schone, Kelly Stultz, and Harv Wileman. The concert takes place on Friday, July 27th at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $15/$10 for students. Tickets may be purchased in advance at or at the door.

Concert goers will be treated to a romp through untold history from sacred texts that feature women’s stories who were warriors, military strategists, prophets, healers and heroes of the biblical world. Though the stories are lesser known by the larger culture, major classical composers, artists and singer/songwriters have been fascinated with these women for hundreds of years. Perhaps it is because their stories are so intriguing and non-traditional. This event shines new light into the unexplored realms of sacred texts, particularly as it relates to women. The Biblical women featured are Deborah, Huldah, Jael, The Witch of Endor, Woman from the Song of Songs, Jeptha’s Daughter, Rahab, Strange Woman, Woman Wisdom.
