Aldo Leopold – A Standard of Change

Aldo Leopold – A Standard of Change is a one-man, one-act play written by and starring Jim Pfitzer, and directed by Trish Wileman.

Set in one evening in and around the famous Wisconsin Shack that inspired much of his writing, A Standard of Change explores the influences and challenges that led Aldo Leopold to penning some of the most important essays in his book A Sand County Almanac.

As the lights come up, Leopold walks up the path. It has been 64 years since his death, and as many years since he has seen his now historic Shack. Awaiting him are surprises, memories, emotions, and stories to be shared. Leopold explores the effects of human progress on wildness as well as his own transformation as he learns the effects of his policies and changes his mind about how we manage wild places.

A long time friend of Barking Legs, Jim has performed in our space many times as storyteller, musician, and actor. This performance will be his last in Chattanooga for a long time, as he is leaving in March for Alaska! Join us to say goodbye to our friend.

Following the performance will be a q&a in the theater, then a reception in the front.

Every ticket purchased comes with one of Jim’s storytelling CD’s and, while they last, a What Would Aldo Do? bumper sticker.
